DK New Media recently released the YouTube Sidebar Widget WordPress plugin out into the wild. Doug wanted a way for his most recent marketing YouTube videos to be accessible from the Marketing Technology Blog’s sidebar. So we made just that.
As you can probably tell from the name of the plugin, it is wigetized, and ready to drop into any WordPress theme that supports widgets. In the widget settings, you have the option to list a title for the section, you can specify the username of the YouTube user you want to retrieve videos from, decide if you want the video titles to be displayed, chose how many videos to retrieve, and lastly (this is where the plugin strives) the ability to add a filter to help retrieve specific videos instead of all of them.
To enable the widget, you simply add your username or the playlist you wish to use, as well as how many videos you wish to display.
We’ve even 1-up’d the plugin by adding a modal box that pops up and presents the video when one of the video thumbnails are clicked. You can download the plugin from the WordPress Plugin Repository.
