As an inbound marketing agency, we think it’s exciting to be agents on the front side of the incredible change in the agency industry. From vendors to designers, everyone is paying much more attention to the big picture of online marketing rather than working in silos or comfort zones. Working across mediums provides greater results… but it’s not easy! Marketing used to be about paying for your audience’s attention and trying to lure them away from whatever they were doing before. But thanks to the web, the game has changed. … Continue reading

Compendium Blogware Releases ‘Web to Post’
Carhartt approached Compendium Blogware last year and recognized that harnessing the fanatical following they had would be a great boost to their blog. For 120 years, Carhartt has created and manufactured premium work clothing known for exceptional durability, comfort, quality of construction, and fit that you can feel in the fabrics and see in the performance. Carhartt fans were emailing testimonials about their tough jobs and sending in incredible photographs. The process was time-consuming, though. Carhartt would often have to respond to the email and request additional information. They would … Continue reading
Do you Seed Blogs?
Way back (snicker) in the early days of blogging, I figured out that commenting on other blogs was hugely successful. The majority of growth in those young days was due to my participation in the conversation in other blogs. Even with the consistent growth of my blog, I continue to try to seek out and find new blogs who are writing great content in relative areas of interest. I also try to promote them in my daily links. With a hundred million blogs out there, there are a lot of … Continue reading
The SezWho Commenting Plugin
A couple months ago, I wrote a post that took all of the third party commenting applications to task. The blog post was dead-on with the exception of SezWho, a system that allows you to keep your comments as well as provide you with the other commenting system features. When you register your site with SezWho, it synchronizes your comments and posts with SezWho. This is advantageous for a couple of reasons: If SezWho goes down, my blog doesn’t. If SezWho goes out of business, I still have all my … Continue reading
Why No Intense Debate?
There’s a new kid on the block on the comments side of the business, Intense Debate. The premise of the service is outstanding – provide a central repository to track your visitors’ comments, expand the commentary beyond your blog, and provide a very rich interface to display the comments. There is a single flaw with the service, though, that makes it unusable… the comments are loaded via JavaScript, something that the Search Engines will not see. If you have a fantastic blog post with tons of traffic that changes every … Continue reading
Bye-Bye YouTube! Hello IndyTube!
When I wrote my predictions about 2008 being the Year of Micro, I didn’t expect some of the changes were arriving right in my own backyard. I just received a nice note from Jennifer Anderson-Henry at Wish TV. Jennifer and I both worked at The Indianapolis Star a few years ago. Jennifer let me know that LIN, the parent company of WishTV, was launching IndyTube.TV. IndyTube.TV is a user-generated content site provided to the Indianapolis community as a way to celebrate living in Indianapolis and to expose those in the … Continue reading
