Webinars without Installs? No!

Adobe may really be onto something with its new Adobe ConnectPro. I was on a webinar with a company in Italy a few weeks ago and I must admit that I spent quite a few minutes glued to the Adobe product rather than the webinar itself!

As companies look for places to cut budget, purchasing an annual subscription to ConnectPro can definitely have a strong Return on Investment if your staff is doing a ton of air travel.

At work, we’ve been fighting with GotoMeeting and the ridiculous codec they utilize for their videos. It drove our IT guys crazy trying to decode it so we could convert it and play it through a streaming web player. Ridiculous. ConnectPro has an editor built in so you can create an edited version of an archived meeting or Virtual Classroom session.

ConnectPro has a beautifully simple interface, runs in Flash (so no Java installations required), has video conferencing built in, and can utilize VOIP! I ran into Linda Fitzgerald at the best coffee shop in Indianapolis tonight and Linda had nothing but rave reviews for the package.

In her words, Linda:

is growing an online community for ‘chronologically maturing’ women traveling through the 2nd half of the journey. Developing and launching the face to face companion neighborhood networks known as Affiliated Women Intl(tm).

Linda said that they’ve been using the application across continents and it’s worked without a hitch. They do have a trial version that’s expiring soon, so they’re hoping they can afford the package and utilize it on an ongoing basis. It’s not inexpensive, the pay-as-you-go option is $375/mo for a 5-user license or about $20/hr if you wish to pay by session.

PS: I know, I know! Flash is technically an installation; however, since 90% of users do have it installed and ready to go… and the other 10% probably don’t know how to operate a mouse… this is still pretty awesome.
