I've gotten similar problems when my hard disks start to go bad. I know that's not what's going on here, but Vista can't either read from memory or read from your disk. You will also find that you can't upgrade to new versions of Parallels (that might fix whatever bug you're hitting) without having to reactivate Vista, which may require a phone call to MS.
