Channels Launched on Jaiku! The Indianapolis Channel is Open!

If you haven’t checked out Jaiku yet, it’s a fascinating little tool. Imagine a chat room in slow motion, or a shared blog where brevity counts and you’ve got Jaiku. Technically, it’s called “microblogging”. A person can post tidbits of information in chunks of about 140 characters. It has the added advantage of RSS so you can keep looped into the conversation.
Some folks use it to let others know where they are every moment of the day. Where I’ve seen it used best is when someone is looking for some help… they can post a question and quickly get an answer. Not only that, with Jaiku you can have an entire conversation in the page. It’s friendlier than a forum… no working with topics or categories and such. Nice and quick and to the point! You can see I often update Jaiku and it displays in my sidebar using a plugin that I wrote for WordPress.
Now the smart folks have added “Channels”. These are basically topics that are administered by one person, but can be written by anyone that joins the group. What a great idea! I thought it was so cool that I added the Jaiku Indianapolis Channel! So c’mon over and sign up for Jaiku and get the latest of what’s happening in Indianapolis up to the minute!
