Protection? don't make me laugh, not sure how much Doug used Ebay but I have been using it for 4 or more years and I have never come across a more evil company in whole life. In fact they are the anti-google so instead of 'Dont be evil', Ebays moto is 'Lets be really really evil'.

The protection requires the other buyer to be a proven millionare, for them to have 2 heads and to be able to name PI to 5 billion places. But joking aside, getting protection is a rare thing indeed. And even if they are protected and they turn out to have had their account hijacked then they dont pay out..

I only still use it because there really isnt a decent alternative, I think if one of the big boys launched a rival people would flood over, perhaps google checkout is a sign the google will save us all.

I actually paid full price for a Windows XP upgrade many moons ago. The guy who I purchased from took the money and split. He did it with a number of other eBay buyers as well. When I pursued it, they just brushed me off, they actually didn't even cancel the guy's account until a ton of us complained. It was pretty bad. They just said that it was buyer beware and we'd have to contact the FBI since they take care of Internet Fraud.

Doug - could you elaborate on how you got scammed out of a couple of hundred dollars via eBay? I thought they offered a protection. Does that mean that this protection isn't worth the ink it isn't even printed in?

Anyway, you might enjoy <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJDK6ctRjqw&mode=related&search=" rel="nofollow">this video</a> for some relief…
