American ingenuity does not get better than this:

This guy doesn’t appear to have anyone else… just a solid toolkit and plenty of gears and springs and motors and stuff. Having kids and waiting a few years may have been easier.
Going to his site, http://www.duke.edu/~jwc13/beerlauncher.html, there are many more pictures. He also asks to not watch the film via YouTube, but use Metacafe instead.
And if enough people are interested, he might even get them made in a machine shop. $1500 a pop, with up to 20 cans.
But here in Europe we prefer Beer out of Bottles /- or best: a proper draft.

Just Wow.
Barring the sue-happy Americans (of which I’m sad to say I’m in the same country with ;b), that would actually be pretty nifty.
Hunker down for a late night of coding. Load the thing with Pepsi (or Coca, if that’s your preferred poison), and just tap a button. Remember to catch the soda behind you, of course.
