Looking for the plan? Or simply criticizing the bad one?

PlanI truly believe that the Dems have an uphill battle because they simply haven’t released a collective plan in dealing with terrorism, the war in Iraq, the economy, the border, the Patriot Act, the minimum wage and social security. I have no idea what they want to do. I keep looking for a response, but can’t find one. I’m a Libertarian at heart, my belief is that if we can keep the parties even in Washington, the less they can screw up. But I need to hear what the plan is before I vote one way or the other.

Why would you vote for someone when you don’t know their plan? Is a bad plan better than no plan? I don’t know that that’s a question that can be answered. Nobody knows. I think that this is the problem with the elections right now… people are going to vote for a plan, even if there’s a chance it’s a bad one. Do I think that the Dems could do a better job on some of these things? Sure I do… but without a plan, I can’t vote for them. I can’t simply vote against a bad plan… I need a better one to vote for.

This is something I see everyday in business as well. People are put into positions of great authority that have absolutely no plan. They simply show up to work, put out the fires, and go home every day. Some of them come in and criticize everyone else’s plan (is that a plan?).

There are some who elevate themselves from the crowd… not by taking a step up… but by putting everyone else down.

I want a leader with a plan. I want the 3 month plan, the 6 month plan, the 1 year, 5 year and 10 year plan. I want to know where I’m going. I want a leader that steps up, delegates, takes responsibility, gives credit where it’s due, holds people accountable, and communicates effectively. That’s who I’ll vote for. That’s who I want to work with. That’s who I want to work for. I’m losing faith that people are encouraged to do this these days, though. It seems easier just to sit back and complain how stupid everyone else is.

Sadly, it appears that it’s a strategy that seems to work in business and politics. I’m not going for it. I refuse to work or vote without a plan.

If you would like to read something that may help you decide who to vote for I urge you to read this post: http://imusblog.com/faces-of-hope/

I wouldn’t normally leave a link on anyones blog without asking first, but I will in this case, it’s early. I hope you don’t mind Doug.

I’m with you most of the way, Douglas. The only reason I’m registered with any party is so I can vote in the primaries. Remember this line though:
…if we can keep the parties even in Washington, the less they can screw up

I agree with this totally. One of my favorite president’s in the past few decades was President Ford, mostly because he did little.

I can’t remember for sure, but I think it’s the Czech Republic, has had a deadlocked, and non-functional national government for a good part of the year. Their economy is doing the best it has in a long time, much better than surrounding countries. Coincidence?

If you’re not happy with the executive branch’s work, even without a plan the opposing part can slow down the executive branch if they control of the legislature.

I agree, there needs to be a plan. However I disagree that the current regime has a plan. Unless “Stay the course” is a plan. Oh I forgot, that’s not the talking point anymore.

The past 5 years have done damage to our country, our reputation and our future that may never be repaired.

I want them out and I will give anyone a chance who is at least willing to err on the side of the little guy as opposed to defense contractors and oil.

God help us.

I knew that I would hit a cord with this post… politics is always dangerous to approach, even in a blog. Please believe me when I say that I absolutely respect views on both sides of the fence.

Perhaps Politicians are so fearful of not delivering (ie. Bush I = “No New Taxes”), that they will not promise or submit a plan for anything.

How can we stop this? How can we make sure folks that are trying to get voted in the office actually share the plan for how they are going to fix things?

[...] Looking for the plan? Or simply criticizing the bad one? - On Influence and Automation Sadly, the problem is more basic for the majority of voters: They don’t have either the time or the inclination to become informed, so they must decide between casting an ignorant vote or not voting at all. I’m not sure which is worse. (tags: vote libertarianism) [...]
