Blogging just got dirty. I happened across a blog (I won’t mention which), that had a banner claiming you could get paid for your post. I clicked through and after I read the description of the service, I must admit that I honestly felt a little dirty. Though there are millions of blogs, with good and bad, I never thought I would see the day that someone could simply get paid to put a post up based on the advertiser’s requirements. I was wrong… it’s here:
One of the refreshing characteristics of blogs is that they were not commercialized… there’s usually an obvious line between content and advertising. There wasn’t even the remote chance of a conflict of interest because advertisers seldom worked with bloggers. Intermediate advertising services usually did all of the work anonymously. Services like PayPerPost are going to blur that line.
Why would you risk your name and reputation like this? Much like a journalist being paid off by a politician, you’re going to destroy your good name by selling yourself out like this. Don’t do it. It’s not worth it!
