While I appreciate the government’s intention of collecting data to capture terrorists, I oppose the approach that the government took to obtain that information. The protection of privacy is one of those very freedoms that our democracy is symbolic of. It’s a sad irony.
Last week, there was a victory for citizens in the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s fight with the government over the actions it took to obtain private information from AT&T. A judge has upheld the suit and is allowing it to continue. While the administration is attempting to invoke executive privilege by saying the information is classified and for the defense of the country, the Federal Judge said the suit can continue.

Bottom line, we must not allow our freedom to be eroded in the very fight for freedom that our country is persuing and our soldiers are dying over.
