If you’ve not perused the magazine section at Borders lately, you should take some time and pick up a copy of Practical Web Design from Future. I’ve been reading this magazine for a couple of years now, watching it merge and blossom into a fantastic monthly. You can get a subscription (imported) for about $122/year and it’s worth every penny.
Regardless of whether you’re a marketing manager or a programmer, every single edition will have information for you. Aside from the printed articles, each edition also comes with a CD packed with free software and tutorials.
Here are examples of great articles from the June edition:
- Did you know that it’s actually illegal to make an inaccessible web site in the United Kingdom? The law is not being enforced, but under the Disability Discrimination Act, UK businesses can be prosecuted if their sites aren’t accessible! Here’s a link to the UK guidelines. Another resource is the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) guidelines.

A month ago, the magazine had a nice short and sweet description and history of all the different technologies on the web… XML, PHP, Ruby, .NET, etc. that was so great that I purchased a couple extra copies and sent them to some colleagues. Get this magazine!!! At Borders, it sells for $14.99 and is worth every penny!
