2006 is upon us! I must say that the last 20 years have really gone by quickly. I was talking to my best friend from High School and we found it interesting that we really don’t maintain relationships with too many others that we graduated with. I thought, perhaps, that it was a symptom of our working ‘globally’. But Mike works and lives in the same city as the folks he graduated with. Though I live thousands of miles away, we both really don’t speak to our old friends anymore.
Ironically, I’ve found in that 20 years that the single most important thing we have and control in our lives are our relationships with others. I’ve not been too much of a nurturer in the past. It took 20 years for me to realize that success really has little to do with luck, hard work, money, education, or ethics… it really does all amount to who you know.
In this fantastic year to come, I would urge everyone to begin investing and nurturing those relationships around you. Be it your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even those who you may think of as enemies. You never know when you may need these people in the future. By investing in both the stocks with the highest yield and the highest risk, your investment will come through.
